The good:
- Engaging and fun game
- Cool Victims and many evils to chose from
- Forest and Asylum feel totally different
- Mix of Strategy/Luck with Map tiles
The bad: - Event cards feel a bit like a separate game, and are also super swingy - Item cards run out fast and are also not varied enough - Spam-able 1 Stamina attacks on the evil are uncool. Wendigo's Ambush is basically all you need each turn - Rules are not optimal english and also there are some gaps in it
- With only 2 actions, failing a test on 3-5 dices has a big impact, while tests on 2 dices are yolo.
- Maybe we play wrong, but the evil player has an easy time winning. We can buy some time early, once his dice and another skill is upgraded (not even needed for the witch) it is basically over. The ugly:
- Getting a wound on test tiles is frustrating and not needed. We played a round with just ending the move and no wound when failing and evil still won very easy. In this game you need to boost your stats to have a chance, and if you don't see certain victims as mandatory or they might turn, you have to use test tiles and risk it. As you only got 2 HP one wound is barely acceptable when the evil is not on board yet, but once it shows up, this means pretty much game over. As you need also stats to heal, and to do anything you will just get hit, also as the test never gets easy with high stats.
- You do need way to many actions to decode to even have a chance. While 3 numbers and 2 operators could be enough, which we were never able to gather yet, the multiplication operator is almost always a must and so far even with 4 operators we did not draw it. While the math game is cool, it is way to cumbersome/hard to getting enough decoder tests through. If enemy is witch its basically no chance. And if you do not have Lucien or he turns, or he misses his 5 dice 2-3 times or gets hit by lightning I do not see how to even have a chance. I do not what the expected action value is, but so far we are barely able getting enough people even near the bunker, with not even close the numbers. Best so far was 2 numbers 4 operators, in every other try it was way less.
